Happy New Years! The new year has been ushered in by a torrent of rain. My own street was entirely underwater for a while on the afternoon of the 28th (fortunately, it did not come up to any of the houses). And there was flooding in the Manhattan Beach neighborhood just east of Polliwog Park (very close to Redondo Beach). The City has spent a lot of money over the last four years to improve storm drains in North Redondo (we've been lucky to have Kurt Schmalz to lead the charge on those improvements!), but situations like this show that we have to keep pur eye on the ball and make sure that we complete the overhaul of the storm drains, and keep the maintenance up.
